It's awesome, as it allows 2.Kf7!!
1.e4 f6?!
1...f6 is good......... in certain Fischer Random positions :)
LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL
I see you have actually played 2...Kf7 also. I don't know if I could do that! I understand the principle of protecting f7, but... :-)
Yes Mr. pauix you are right!! It gives king escape, and then if they try Qh5 it is check and so you know the queen is there and it cannot be checkmate then.

I prefer 1.f3 2.Kf2 than 1...f6 2...Kf7, but both are fun to play. Normally your plan is to lock up the center, trade as fast as possible and try to reach an endgame where your king would be better placed. It's perfect for practicing endgames, which I need a lot...
I see - my philosophy is different than that, but hey, if it works for you :-) Who am I to criticize? ;-)

I normally does not work out of Blitz games, but hey, I won an Online Chess game with it!
Another 22 move game - in this instance, he lost on time. There was more tension here, but I enjoyed it, and wouldn't mind a few more rounds. I have been playing ...g5?! in these positions.
I've played many games with this opening and won, even against much higher-rated players. I have a winning record with the Barnes opening, too.
adude, I see your only loss is against 2. d4, when you play 2...e5 - I thought you were going to follow up with ...Nc6 after dxe5. What do you think of the 2...g6 idea?
I believe that g6 would be better, because after 1.e4 f6 2.d4 e5 3.dxe5 fxe5 4.Qh5+, white is crealy winning. the g6 idea is better because although it opens up the kingside even more, the king isn't under any present danger, and with your idea that you showed, the kingside is fairly safe. To me, this almost looks like the Leningrad variation of the Dutch Defense, which I am very fond of.
adude, I wasn't talking about recapturing - I was talking about creating an initiative for a pawn:
Jim, I understand your point...but we are discussing an offbeat opening and what to do in that opening. This opening will never touch mainstream - that isn't the point. We are discussing something that is rarely seen, and how to play it.
adude, maybe you could try this idea out I have played and post your results...
I saw your game - you did win, but I think there might be some improvements for Black on that. I would love to post the game, if you don't mind, and give some of my ideas, later, if that is okay?
Posting the game is all right. I do realize that I made a ton of mistakes (I'm not that great), but sure.
adude, I think you did fine, all things considered. It is an unexplored line, so let's discuss it and improve on it! I was proud to see you keep fighting for the win, since his time was almost out anyway :-) But let's post and discuss:
Gambit, thanks for that awesome post that didn't simply trash the opening. My question is, instead of reviewing ...e6, what about ...g6? I know this is a "sub-par" way to develop, but as you said, many people don't really know how to face it. Once again, thanks for your review!
BTW, I am simply going to play it as a system for the next few days and experiment with it, and see what I find.

Good suggestion - I guess it depends on who you talk to! :-) I still would give it ?!, but it is still fun! That being said, ?! is not ?, so even though it isn't the best response (1...a6?! or ...a6!? - ask Tony Miles) to 1. e4, it still is okay, but slow. There are also some interesting reversed-BDG themes where Black also plays ...e5 and sacs the pawns for initiative.
