Mine will be 1.d4 I think
2010 Opening

I´m tempted to try out c4, the positions that arise from it usually seems interesting, Korchnoi has some extremely nice 1.c4 games that really inspires me.
But I'll stick with 1.e4 for awhile longer untill my understanding of chess to the level where 1.c4 is something to think about.

I've had mixed openings but I think my first move will be d4. The defenses that I will study are queens gambit, dutch, king's indian, gruenfield, and work on my endgame and tactics :)

d4 for me. I cant start the game with an unprotected pawn.
as black Modern against weaker players. Might tinker with a few lines in the Kings Indian Defence
Slav and Caro Kann against stronger players.
I play the same opening as the most recent loss of my opponent... see if I can exploit the same weaknesses.

Two friends meet in the park and one of them says:
"My wife says that if tomorrow I go to the chess match, she will take my children and leave me."
The friend asks him:
"And what you will do?"
He answers;
"E4, as always!"

in 2009 my opening of choice has been e4 with white, and the center counter/slav with black. in 2010 however I think I will switch to d4, and use the Blackmar diemer gambit, as white, and as black I don't know... Maybe the french defence. I have had some bad experiences with the french in past years, but now that my chess style has become more well rounded, I will take it up again!
In 2010, what shall be your first move as white? Mine: 1.e4...
and study the mainlines of the major defences - 1-Sicilian (Jan-Feb), 2-Caro-Kann (Mar-Apr), 3-French (May-June), 4-Petroff (July-Aug), 5-Dutch (Sep-Oct) and 6-Philidor (Nov-Dec)
