I have heard that many people play better online so i wonder if changing my piece texture to 3d would help my over the board chess.

And from 1 to 10 how stupid is this question

Most computer chess 3-d visualizations are from a single poorish angle that is nothing like over the board.  Worse, they tend to use poorly scaled pieces that block your view.   And the worst of it all, many of them are awkward to move the pieces due to 2d mouse trying to lift a 3-d piece that can only be grabbed a certain way.  I am personally not a fan.   There might be something out there with an actual realistic view but I have not seen it.

If it feels and looks right to you, use it.  Try it is the only way to know.

Using 3D pieces with Fritz gui cause lag, not because graphic card is weak but it slow down the move input system.

2D pieces is best performance wise.

3D pieces aren't the same as physical pieces. They just look too close together, and too staged for me to feel comfortable looking at them.
