4...Qf6!? in the Scotch

4...Qf6 attacking d4, f2 (as well as b2 indirectly). Looks playable for black but rarely ever seen.

I played the scotch for a while, and i never saw Qf6. However, the line Qh4 is sometimes played, with if Nxc6 Qxe4+, with the kight on prix. With Nc3 there are lines with Bb4 and Ndb5, with many complications

It mostly transposes to regular lines after 5.Be3 Bc5 and 5.Nxc6 Bc5. 5.Nb5 is also played, but isn't so dangerous. All that means it's perfectly playable, but hardly good enough to surprise our opponent.

after the move 4...Qf6 I had success with 5.Nb3 preventing the dark-squared Bishop coming out to c5.
