I think it's well worth studying at least one positional opening. Maybe the Pirc, as it can give some 1.e5 players fits.
Obviously, all of my novelties have to be at the top of the list. For normal openings, here is my list.
Against e4.

sorry to say that each one is actualy talking about his style of playing , there is nothing called best opening....according to kasparov" all normal openings are 100% sound" , its a matter of taste, style, being comfortable with one line over the other....for those who r in doubt i recommend reading " how to build your chess opening repertoire , by steve giddins "
