A Dashing Pawn

Thought I'd never again write about openings (save for my recent blog post).

Yet, here is a funny story from GM Bora Ivkov's My Sixty Years in Chess: An Ode to the Art of Chess, Beograd, 2007 (see the cover below) I wanted to share with you. Which goes like this,

.

"At the beggining of round, the pedantic TD Ivan Zorec went between tables to check everything's ok. He sees this position in GM Bruno Parma-IM Kemal Osmanovic, White smoking nonchalantly.

Parma Osmanovic

"Thinking the e5-pawn was pushed a bit more energeticaly, thus having crossed the equator and found itelsf on e5, TD puts it back to e4.

"A bit later, the TD stops at the table again and sees the same position with Pe5.

"'Grandmaster, I thought you're a serious man,' and puts the pawn back to e4.

"'Not only I'm serious, but it is also my turn!' replies Parma and pushes the pawn to e5, lighting another cigarette."

.

You guessed it right, the game went 1.e4 Nf6 2.e5 Ng8

roaringPawn, I have a question:

What percentage of chess (OTB) do you feel it is played by psychology?

Kamalakanta, not sure really. The higher level, the higher percentage I would think.
