King's gambit with exf4 and g5 refuting? After 1. e4 e5 2. f4 exf4 3. Nf3 g5 Black can force a better position which is obviously not what White would wish for in an opening.
1.e4 e5 2.d4 d6 not so bad and not sure white is better in your line. disagree

I am really not so interested what some GMs think--about certain lines, am interested in the truth. Sometimes a non GM can figure out lines that the strongest chess engines get wrong. GMs are not always right. The very best chess engines are not always right.
Books can be wrong also.
