Not at all. In all the offensive "challenges" I have responded to in kind, there has been implicit insult. I'm too old a hand not to recognise people who cannot voice an opinion in a neutral manner but who always attack. it comes from a mixture of repressed anger and inability. You may or may not be one of them, depending on whether you are capable of relating to human beings instead of trying to pretend stuff that isn't happening. The jury is still out. If you actually look at the thread, I was the one trying to give chess-related reasons for my opinions. Those who disagreed were incapable of that and just used ad homs. They were the ones who were upset that someone dared to disagree with them. So don't twist things around, OK?
Regarding your comment on the Winawer, back when it was first played it was met with scepticism. It turned out that white's tactical chances compensated for the positional problems. I used to enjoy playing it when I played 1 e4, 25 years ago. I played it from buth sides because it was fun. Maybe it is a blunder because it hands black too much. If so, that judgment is subjective and quite OK.

People have not been capable of keeping this to a chess-related discussion. Instead they have attempted, quite ineffectually, to resort to appeals to authority.
Ne2 isn't bad but neither is it all that good, and I think you'll find that is why it isn't played much. If blaxck cooperates then white can transpose and no harm is done. But black doesn't need to aid this and white can easily find himself playing a closed sicilian where Ne2 wasn't the best move because it allows black to equalise relatively easily. Is that clear enough for you?

So Ne2 concedes more than it gains, which is the reason why, in practice, it isn't played all that much, except as a surprise weapon. And that's the final story.
Thanks a lot MSC but 1 day per move is too fast for me as I sometimes go away for a couple of days and it would mean using holiday all the time. I'm waiting for the next round of the two tournaments i'm already involved in to start. They are both challenging enough because they are both based on start positions I wouldn't normally ever reach.
Black can hold the balance in the Winawer. Arguably, white initiates it by playing Nc3, which allows black either of two main approaches, of which the Winawer is considered by many to be the more combative.

My first suggestion was 2 ... d5. That was shot down in flames by various people and none of them could back up their opinions except by saying that to them, it looks bad. There is no proper, chess-related discussion here at all. I offered to play that position against the people who pretended it was bad. OK so I'm under-rated at 1862 and would probably beat them. I've only played a few games. Last time I played on this site I had no difficulty reaching 2200 plus before I got bored. I'm in two tournaments and waiting for the next rounds to begin. Last time I was playing 40 or 50 games and I resigned them all. I went away for a few years and just returned. The standard of discourse in this forum has deteriorated markedly. It's full of pretentious idjits.
