CHESS IS MEANT TO BE FUN STOP PLAYING SYSTEM OPENINGS

Are system openings not fun?

OF COURSE THEY ARENT! YOU TAKING ALL THE FUN OUT OF THE POSITION JUST TO PLAY A DULL SYSTEM AND DO PASSIVE THINGS WHEN THE OPPONENT EXPECTED A SHARP AND TACTICAL GAME! STOP PLAYING SYSTEMS!

Jeez bro, I'm sorry people try to follow principles and not get mated in the opening, but also don't want to spend all their time on learning theory. I deeply apologize that people have the audacity to play chess against you.

Dude i think the opening is litteraly the most important part of the game.
Very unpopular mindset but guess what, Im still somehow at a good rating.

theBigSwingle69

I recommend the Vienna and the Fried liver it's your opinion tho what you want to choose

Poweranony

Reti gambit leads to very interesting games. I would recommend playing it.

Is that how you will stereotype systems? A lot of them aren’t dull, not passive and some are very tactical.
In the end, systems are just openings like the rest. Does the fact that a few of them are systems make them “inferior”?

Not all systems are like that. The stonewall Dutch isn't passive. The KID setup isn't dull. But I get your point the London and Colle and Tarktakower are very boring

Standing up for london and tartakower 👊 🙌

And a bonus to that, The other thing that makes people like e4 is the potential for brilliant moves.
You see, It really just focuses on things such as development and material, While in those d4 systems there can be no captures for well over 10 - 12 moves.
d4 really is bassicaly closed. Another reason people dont like it.
This removes alot of potential for brilliant moves.

Interesting 🤔

The idiocy in people when they say 'd4 passive e4 aggressive' is simply shocking. You do know that black can play solid in every single first move regardless of whether it's d4 or e4 or nf3 or nz21. So the logic of solidness and closed positions is dumb.

I'd say after e4 black can choose if he wants a draw or if he wants to play for a win. Same for every opening, including d4. Take the Benko, for example:

Black says "okay I'll give you a pawn for development and take the queenside and attack'. Also how you be dissing the non-system openings of d4 such as the Catalan, the Queen's Gambit, etc. where it's most likely not closed.

Also d4 controls more of the center.

Tbh i woudlnt say that about the indian, Indian is NOT a system its a very aggresive and fine opening. I dis litteraly everything else. Queens gambit? No.
Catalan? No.
There is something about d4 that i hate with every inch of my soul but i cant tell you what it is. Alot of people feel the same.

wdym by Indian 🤔

Do you mean 1..Nf6 as a whole? Because black can definitely play that and not be agressive by playing solid 🪑

That's a weird thing to claim when the majority of your games go like that:

I'm just wondering if you noticed that you were mainly arguing against people 700+ points higher than you when you said this lol

That's about it. I just want an aggressive position. Not aiming for anything trappy but something nice and aggressive would be cool.

I have a couple of options for you to try and study (These are some I have learned): The Geschev Gambit or Budapest Gambit. The Danish Gambit I dont 100% suggest but it can be overpowered if played correctly. The Scotch Gambit and the Vienna Gambit are fine, but my top suggestion is the Benko Gambit because grandmasters play it and Ive played. Out of the 5 times Ive ever played it Ive only lost once, so I highly suggest the BENKO GAMBIT. Also try Evans Gambit or the Dying Grandma Gambit (The last one was a joke.)

Dude no way you know the dying grandma gambit!

I only learned from the best.

It isnt actually that aggresive, You will just abort the operation when black plays Nc6, And give up being a pawn down.

People say there’s a difference between positional and boring. You can say the same for aggressive and flat-out refuted

People say there’s a difference between positional and boring. You can say the same for trying at chess/enjoying the game and trying too hard at chess. This is for suggestions, not to make fun of other people doing exactly what I asked them to do.

ok sure e5 is another line but i havent researched that yet

AhmedAryan

ok i did research e5. for those of you who want to see optimal play:

but its 67 moves but alr i guess you can say its unsound cause stockfish says its -1.2 from the start
