Would the torre attack be much better positionally?

Thanks. Hey can you tell me if dutch defense is pretty solid? I'm a beginner still learning my repertoire, I've recently been trying indian defenses vs d4, mainly kings indian; though I do not like how crampped positionally I get so quickly. Would you recommend learning the dutch?

I play the Dutch when I'm not playing Nimzo.

It's solid enough for GMs to use; it's more than solid enough for amateurs.

The Dutch comes with f5, a frequent objective in the KID, baked in. If White dithers, Black gets good chances for a kingside attack.

Most d4 players aren't booked on the Dutch and there is not nearly as much theory on it as most QP defenses.

Ultimately f5 early does weaken the kingside a bit, but not enough to make the Dutch unsound.

Wonderful feedback much obliged. I do enjoy playing the sicilian so perhaps a reverse will be interesting.

if you want to know the correct positional move then the best answer is probably 2 c4. people play the tromp for other reasons. not because they think its best.

True, I have it in my rep as answer to 1... Nf6 specially to avoid some KID action.

Cuz it was Bobby's favourite setup as black vs d4 c4 and he can't be wrong for choosing it!
