h2-h4 against the Pirc/Modern ?

I had no success with the 7. h4 line of Austrian vs Pirc (in times long past). As best I recall it is right at the start of Botterill & Keene's book so my opponents always seemed to be very well prepared against it.

Thanks! That is interesting-I'll try it! Vs. Pirc I've experimented with 4. Be2 then either 5. Be3 with lots of transpositions possible (sometimes f4, g4 , f5 then Qd2 can even happen if black delays action) or 5. Bg5 to inhibit e5.

I play the Grand Prix alot against the Sicilian especially in lower time controls. Rapid and higher I'd still go Closed Sicilian but wouldn't opt for the Grand Prix as much.

I'm studying how to play AGAINST the Grand Prix, I lost to it in a painful OTB game. However, I don't play it myself preferring the open Sicilian.
