I'm really struggling playing againest d4.  I've mostly played Nf6 going into the Kings Indian Defense but find myself really struggling to gain a foot hold on the queenside , i'm getting cramped real quick.  I've tried playing the Pirc Defense and still feel like im getting cramped and white is gobbling up all my pieces!  I've also played the Benko Gambit , I think its 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5 .......etc i've tried the Grunfeld and know the basics of the Opening but again feel like i'm getting lost or trading wrong pieces and end up getting dominated by white.

So any suggestions on what to play againest d4?

i love the benoni because it is very dynamic. and you should try to transpose into the benko. very good opening

I play the Nimzo - challenging the centre is within my style.

I have not tried to play the QGD  , do you reccomend it ? and what exactly am I doing wrong on the queenside in the KID ? pushing pawns to much perhaps?

Try Dutch it's pretty easy to learn and you can build a 'stonewall'!
