The Italian game
The Italian Game is one of the oldest opening (and also one of my favorite); it was developed by players such as Damiano, in the 16th century, and later by "The Great" Greco in 1620, ... who gave the game its main line. Giochhino Greco (1600-1634) was considered like one of the most powerfull chess player of his time.
Zoom out section:
The Italian game is one of my favorite for the White. Let's see some very basic ideas of this opening before starting... This opening is caracterized by a rapid development of the pieces. The development of the Bishop on c4 for White and c5 for Black allow to both side much more control in the center and it also exercises pressure along two important diagonals (for each side), and finally open fire on KB2 squares (f7 for White and f2 for Black).
In this post, we will study 5 differents type of variations of the Italian game. It will be the Giuoco Piano variation, the "normal" variation, 4 knights variation, the "Italian variante" of the 4 knights variation and finally the "Dubois" variation.

Let's start by this old classic...
... Now look at the 5.d3 possibility...
This one is a live chess game played here, at chess.com its again a blitz game. But this time its a 5 min. mat game. I've tryed to did the same thing that the game showed in the previous section (to be avoided section) but i've missed, i've got a win anyway...Let's see..
More about planning section:
White: In the variation : 1. e4, e5 2. Nf3, Nc6 3. Bc4, Bc5 4. c3. This is the main line of the Guioco Piano. The idea after playing c3 is d4. White is threatening to occupy the centre and roll forward. The position now is equal, with White having the advantage of having the move and the initiative.
Black:In the variation : 1. e4, e5 2. Nf3, Nc6 3. Bc4, Bc5 4. c3.: For counterplay on Black's side, he can use the temporary weakness of the e4 Pawn to play 4...Nf6, but for now, the ball is in White's court.
Quebecor game's section:
This time, i choose this game not in the Échec + review but in the official website of this federation. It's a game played in 2009 between Derreaugh and Yang in a Championship at Kingston (CANADA)...
