just play 2.nf3 then?

You wanna hear something hilarious? I never thought to just do this.

I used to play 1…Nc6 (and I still do, for surprise value) and 2.Nf3 is the most challenging line (because black will never transpose into a double king pawn opening)

Awesome315

caro

murphygambit

anything but 1.f5

The Petroff kind of bugs me.

you can change it up with 2. Nc3 and play the Ginsburg (Four knights ...a3) or vienna game (3..f4)

MichalMalkowski

French defence.

Milo543

I hate it when enemy plays Sicilian, too sharp

Fire

caro

gik-tally

"hypermodern" pawn pushing "trench weasels"

pirc

modern

french (not so much with the monte carlo, but tricky sidelines and declines)

king's gambit  2...d6 deferred fisher & ESPECIALLY 2...Nc6 which i'm 2:7, but I eat the REGULAR fisher & mc cleod up like snacks. I thought about creating a thread asking WHY I win almost every mac cleod, and loose almost every queen's knight. i got hosed the other day by 3...f5!?

carokann - but maybe i need to study the hillbilly as i won one without study.

alekhine - because the krejcik isn't the strongest reply, but i like it as a king's gambiteer

nimzowitsch - i used to get beat badly by -200s in it. i get tripped up positionally super easy

never seen the duras gambit. i'm getting it confused with the latvian gambit which is HIDEOUS for black. now see, I used to play that, but it's SUPER UNSOUND! it gets quick surprise wins, but is hideous

hmm... maybe i want to study THAT instead of trying to cobble a fritz/schliemann repertoire with mind numbing transpositions. the duras has winning stats under 2000. as a king's gambit player, i might get along with it better than positional scandinavians... particularly moderns & the advance. i'm not a sicilian guy, but i like 2...e5 better than 2...Bf5 which was 1/2 of the reson i stopped playing a decade ago.

hmmm... the duras. thanks for the homework.

i like variations that sidestep like meeting the scandinavian with the blackmar diemer gambit.

NOPE! NEVER MIND. i hate giving my castle up more than i love stealing them. it looks like a fugly staunton gambit which drives me nuts in the stonewall

if I become a duras player, tanks in advance, even if it undoes all of my fritz/schliemann research.

I don't enjoy playing against the modern Philidor set-ups with pawns at e5, d6 and c6.
