@greenleaf14: usually at that point its worth to Nh5 and then take the bishop.

I found a way to enter the Benoni through the French with 1.e4 e6 2.d4 c5 3.d5 exd5 4.exd5 d6 with later g6 for Bg7 or Be7...what are some basic themes/ideas behind it?

GreenLeaf14

Does anyone know GMs that have till today the Benoni as part of their repertoire?

I have another question this time about the Czech Benoni:

Why not play this variation for white?

GreenLeaf14

I know that it is white good bishop in this opening but....isn't it better to exchange him for a good knigth?

Irontiger

"Which i believe favors white since in a closed position black has minus one knight for a bishop"

Too dogmatic. White's remaining bishop is very poor, whereas Black's Bf6 might get some activity later on. Besides, White will suffer a lot on the dark squares. Black has the choice to break by ...f5 or ...b5 later on.

GreenLeaf14

Yes but b5 can bee met with b3 and for black to play f5,the bishop on f6 must be moved for another time(3rd) in the opening ...right ? Probably black will opt a6->a4 hoping for a3  but cant white play a4 and stop it ?

Why not watch some games? This can be a fun Benoni to play because understanding the middlegames is more important than the opening lines. It's almost a KID with no theory.
