Hey guys

ThrillerFan

The 3 books by Marin are the best on the English.

And why are you double-posting?  It's openings you are talking here.  Get rid of the post in General Discussion.  Double-posting is spamming.

I recently began to play the English in rapid games and want to learn more about it. I heard that Mihail Marins series should be really good but before i buy it i would like to now if the books are worth 75€ total. But if you think there are other ( better) books i would like to know abou them too. Thanks

I find Kosten's book to be horrible.

The "Play the English" (Everyman - Green Cover) has had really bad reviews.

The older book on the Symmetrical English (also a Green cover - lighter green - by Everyman) from 2001 by Cummings (I think that's his name) is OK, not great, but the analysis is probably dated.

The two books on the "Symmetrical" and "Classical and Indian" were decent, but they were from 1993, and much has changed since then.

The two books by Gambit from 1999 were also decent, but they are also dated.

Thanks ThrillerFan

You have to be prepared to play an early g3 with the Marin repertoire, which may or may not be your cup of tea.

English Move By Move is really good.
