cool....I recently started studying the petroff.

They are all good, if you know them well enough to play them. Great players and World Champs have used them all. I prefer the Alekhine - it gets me good results and exciting games. I tend to know it better than my opponents too

Why study Petroff and Sicilian?? Do you have a lot of spare time?

If you play 1...e5, you'll need also something against the Vienna, Bishop's Opening, Urusov Gambit & King's Gambit. Throw all that on top of the Sicilian Najdorf (which will also require a plan for the Closed Sicilian, Bb5+, Smith-Morra, Alapin and a few other odds & ends) and you'll need to study lots and lots.

1. e4 d5. The Scandinavian Defense is the best practical response to 1. e4. Black centralizes the queen and builds a solid Caro-Kann pawn structure. The system is easy-to-play and guarantees playable middlegame positions. Why study Sicilian theory when you can win 75% of your games with the Scandinavian? Just focus on middlegame plans and tactics, and the opening will practically play itself!

well if you want to play like Caruana, i took up the liberty of looking up his statistics here on chesscom. he plays e5 the most most by far so you should learn to play the italian and ruy lopez or perhaps the russian game. he has never played the dragon from what i have seen

but that is only if you want to play like caruana. i personally do not think it matters

On what planet does black win 75% of Scandinavians?

it would appear only on planet shrek. a previous member used to regularly fact check winning percentages by going over to the lichess database so i did that. white wins 50% and black wins 44%. if white follows the main line and takes on d5 then white wins 53% and black wins 41% or in other words slightly worse than average for black

technical_knockout

hyper-accelerated dragon for me.

See I was playing and learning petroff defence and it is very good and has a lot of winning chances for black but the problem with the main line petroff is due to itopen e file it's little drawish as everyone says and you can not draw against a player rated 200-300 rating lower than you in the open tournaments

That's why I kept playing petroff but determined to play sicilian defense as well

Now the question was which sicilian to learn I was confused between dragon and najdorf and started learning the dragon first from giri but while he made a course on dragon, he also said that dragon is dubious and not more played at the elite level

My dream is too become a super gm and I wanted to learn a defence which can help me in my entire journey

Then I decided to learn najdorf as I am  just 16 I have so much time to master it and also I prepare for iit(world toughest exam after class 12)therefore learning najdorf theory isn't a big thing for me . I can study 18 hrs a day and prepare and learn the najdorf

And the good thing about sicilian structure is you can get some very good pawn structure from it with only one or no weakness like you can play dragon against the bowdler attack,or some type play schevengian structure with pawn on e6 and d6 against the bowdler

Najdorf against the open, dragon against the closed and grand Prix

I really like pawn structure of sicilian especially schvengian and dragon and I basically try to have same structure if white plays anything except The open and morra gambit

My score on lichess with the scandinavian is above 75% against typical opponents rated between 2200 and 2500

It's good but you should learn opening which are in trend at super gm level like I have learned queens gambit ,catalan, petroff, najdorf and grunfeld that's what my opinion is

And at last you can add a surprise package as I have trompowsky in white repetoire and you can have scandi in your black surprise repetoire

Top 5 openings for people with no personality.

I am not gonna say anything about that but you should be respectful to other opinions when you participate in forums and group discussion and if you can't just don't participate in forums

the sicilian najdorf and modern Scheveningen are just solid and gives black lot of winning chances and also fighting chances .

And if you want to go with safe and drawish approach then you can go for petroff

I think a opening with fighting chances nd an opening very safe is the best thing you can have in black repetoire against e4

Caution:the choices can vary with people

French - seems to get people out of their comfort zone (at least at my level).

I_PLAYLIKE_CARUANA

The French is good very good but the problem is it can get too complex, but its very good

For me, A>B>E>F>C

steven you are an outlier and others will not achieve such a percentage. I am sure there is someone on lichess who scores 75% with the bong cloud but that does not mean that it does well generally or that it is a good choice based upon that person's success
