For positional play, try benko gambit ( yes, this is a POSITIONAL gambit!).

Indeed. I tried it and, even though my opponent went for the Fully Accepted line (1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5 4.cxb5 a6 5.bxa6), I don't feel comfortable with the game's 'slow' rythm. I've got a quite typical setup (fianchetto on g7, rooks on a8 and b8, queen on the b file), but I don't see tactical opportunities.

I play the england gambit, as not many people at my level know it and its not too complicated to learn- not too many lines...

its not supposed to be very good... but im too lazy to learn anything else someday ill get around to learning the benko gambit...

1. d4 e5 2. exd5 Nf6 3. Nc3 Qe7 4. Bc4 Qg4+ 5. Bd2 6. Qxg2 Nf3...

then it gets complicated :P

XiXax, what's your rating? if you are below 1600, I suggest you concentrate on tactics and endgames and play the opening as you go along. I doubt you lost the two games because they started 1.d4.

what are you talking about... im 1400 and it happens regularly that i blunder in the first five moves because i dont know what im playing. learning an opening for white and black has helped improve at least 200 elo in a few weeks
