Defence is the best offence
Best defense against queen's gambit?

Their have been GM games with black playing b6, after white plays BxN. Geller has a game, were shows the drawback of playing that way, but it is subtle. That's the advantage of playing Queen's gambit declined. Small mistakes, like this, if it is a mistake, won't decide the result of the game.

I play Semi-Slav and if white is insistent on pinning my knight I'll play the Cambridge Springs defense

I am a player rated around an average of 650 in live chess. What is the best option for me, I was recently thinking to study opening but the comment above is saying not to. So please suggest me the best way to improve my chess game. By the way my goal is to reach the rating of atleast 1000 till October in 3 increment 2 blitz games
The most important thing is to blunder less frequently. Also, do you know what the pieces are worth?
If you ask that me in points i can definetly ell, if you're asking the other around then the knights and the bishops are the minor pieces whereas the rook and the queen are the major pieces.

I was just checking whether you were aware that a Knight is worth 3 pawns, a Bishop also 3 pawns, a rook 5 and a Queen 9.
There are approximate values but they will be good enough to guide you. For more discussion see:

I alternate between the Queen's Gambit Declined, and the Semi-Slav Meran.
Other honorable mentions: the King's Indian Defense, and the Nimzo-Indian/Queen's Indian complex (though those defenses are, arguably, more difficult to learn).
