Of course . I agree with Bongcloud . But not with the English . If your opponent is better than you , he will beat you even if you play the English and no matter how good of an opening that is

I used to play the Vienna in tournaments (actually, I used to play 1. Nc3 which often transposed to the Vienna), but I eventually decided that it was too simple and straightforward to generate winning chances against strong opposition.
Here's an old OTB tournament game from 1981:
As you can see, I didn't get much out of the opening.
But Vienna is better
