best way to practice?

Hi everyone
This is my first post and am just trying out the sample membership, having been an active “real world” chess club member but due to the wonderful pandemic now fully converted to online play!!

I want to try out and practice some of the more exotic and risky openings. Is there a better way than trying this “live”, which has trounced my ratings?

Also, any views on the best membership option- is diamond really worth it?

Wherever you see a tiny symbol of an open laptop, that means that you can play against the computer from that page.  So you can find an opening (Learn>Opening) and play it from that position against the computer.  You can probably do the same thing from the Explorer or the analysis board, but Openings was all I checked.

I've had Diamond for a decade now and still find it useful.  Try knocking out a few dozen of the lessons and watch a few videos to make up your own mind.  Or tactics, they're unlimited too.  Have fun!

You could try and find a training partner and play unrated games. I have done this is the past and it works well.

I got curious myself and checked the Explorer.  There's another crappy little symbol which looks kind of like a magnifying glass (if you have a vivid imagination).  Get to where you'd like to play from in the explorer, click on the magnifying glass and you end up in Analysis.  There's a little laptop waiting for you there...

You could potentially train your openings with a bot. Yes, I think that the membership is worth it, and it gives you access to important features.

I believe you can put a position into the analysis board and click continue with computer.
