I too like the Birds' Opening. I've had decent results with 1. f4 (na6 nc6 ng6) 2. d4 openings. It can be a little finicky however, so excercise caution. The Birds opening does expose your king, so really I think the English opening (c4 instead of f4) is a wiser choice.
[EDIT] Silly me I meant f4 not d4... The english opening doesn't open up your king as does the birds (It's a mirror image you see)
I have been playing chess a long time without ever studying openings. When I finally did decide to learn whats what in openings I picked the Bird opening. I actually did good using it. I opened with it faithfully every game for about a year. Now I am exploring the Ruy Lopez, but I keep thinking back to bird. Has anyone else used the opening? Is the opening worthy of discus-sen?
