Also, the gambit’s “overwhelming initiative” isn’t just not present in that specific line, it’s not present in sidelines like h3, where black gets regular development, a possible pin on the f3 knight (if the e pawn moves), and nothing more.

yes, and that means something to a 800

Just like a civilized conversation means something to someone with an 8-year-old’s mentality.

I amnt 8 lol

PedroG1464

Also, you’re clearly confused, your comment had nothing to do with black’s minor advantages.

ok the h3 line

I don’t see black having an overwhelming initiative in either line.

The I invite you to play exatct the same postion you claim to not having an overheling initativ against an oponent of your strength 10 times and then we can talk again

You are 1700, you would massacre him no matter the line, that wouldn't be fair

LorddVandheer

Excuse my reading incompetence mate 😂

Oponent from your strength not me

Ok, i quit chess though

I think all that initiative and stuff doesn't matter if you have enough experience of playing against that gambit. Of course even if I play the white side, i won't win because I am not familiar with it (or win if my opponent does self damage) but an experienced bird player will be prepared to face that gambit and find his way through the opening to get to the middlegame

Then why the heck disusing opening theory

Because I know opening theory more than any other aspect of the game which is probably why I suck

Because of opening theory gurus like GothamChess I barely bothered to touch middlegames and endgames until just before I got frustrated and quit

trimalo

End game is the most beautiful, lots of unknown and tactics skills required.

Black also has the option of playing d5 against f4. it can turn into a Dutch of some sort, with colors reversed.

Bird can be a fun diversion from the more typical lines.

From's Gambit can be tricky if White is unprepared ... but an experienced Bird player will have studied the From (it'll be part of their repertoire) - so White should know the lines better than Black.

The most enjoyable form of the Bird, IMO (from White's perspective) is when it's played in Nimzo-Larsen fashion.

MopsWojownik

I have your level, and i don't like bird. d4 c4 e4 and Nf3 is better than Bird.
