I enjoy f4 but if black plays e5 I just think it's bad for white unless you like Kings Gambit and willing to play e4 on 2nd move.

Why would any true Bird’s player play 1 f4 e5 2 e5?

I am more than happy to enter the waters of the From’s. 2 fxe is the only play here.

My opinion on the bird’s: f4 is a good move (can have a very good pawn push kingside because the knight is not restricted)... but I think playing a few other moves, THEN f4 would unleash its full potential. A good example of this is the Grand Prix attack against the Sicilian. A very nice opening, and the f-pawn is very important, but white develops the center control first THEN plays f4 (Of course, this is not the best example because the Sicilian isn’t the best at direct center control by physically putting pieces in the center, but it was the first thing that came to mind.) I guess the point is that when you play f4 in a game (maybe not in the first move) you don’t have to resign center control, but with 1. F4, it is harder to do so.

I meant f4 any time any game not when playing the Bird's Opening*

No!! The From's Gambit is BAD FOR BLACK! The Most popular, the Lasker's, is SHOWN to just drop a pawn!

If froms gambit is so bad for black then why do at least 50% of birds games feature it - any player taking up the birds opening is pretty much obliged to thoroughly learn the from to quite a long way into the game, as you will face it a lot and the sort of players who play it are reckless aggressive idiots who dont care about position or material just as long as they are constantly attacking.

From's Gambit isn't very dangerous unless you don't study it.
