Boungcloud attack.

There once was a man named Boungcloud,

Whose King moved in front of the crowd,

His tactics were grand,

Although never planned,

So now his game's underground.

This whole thread is brilliant!!!

Big Fan of the BongCloud Gambit ANDall the hard work Lenny has put into his theory and strategy about the game... it's really great to see an outsider come into the chess world with a fresh eye and really turn things on it's ear!  Way to Go Lenny

e4... any move

Congratulations: you have memorized the opening!
Singa
This is the most stupid opening I have ever come across and only King William will recommend it as usual with his unfathomable I.Q.

savy_swede,  are you serious about playing this opening in a tournament?  You are a  strong player as evidence from the games you have played.  The advantage will always go to black. Nevertheless, if the tournament is confined to unrated players it would not matter.  I don't think this is just a joke as King William is involved. He always think with his foot!
farbror
Well, The tournament would perhaps be based on two games vs each opponent. One as white and one as black.

Will the tournament be BYOB?

Sorry to burst your bubble, everyone, but the Bongcloud attack is easily refuted by bringing the black King to e6. Witness the following brilliancy by Dog_Day_Afternoon:

Lenny vs. DogDay

I will have to run this game through the computer, but Lenny's handling of the king is fearless and efficient. It's the rest of his pieces that were cowards!!!

Of course you mean, "Bring Your Own Boungcloud (opening)". Yes, you are correct. Also, I plan to play with only my King. I mean no other pieces on the board. I just don't need them anymore. Everyone sucks except Ernesto Boungcloud.

That is all.

Yes, I met Boungcloud once in Azerbaijan. He wore nothing but a teacup and saucer and sported a cucumber sandwich.

The f*ck?

I went to see Bongcloud to play him OTB.  He lives in an apartment block, very high.  When I got there I noticed a sign which read 'Keep off the grass, man'.  I found his rooms and knocked on the door.  As he let me in, I noticed an unusual scent in the air which reminded me of the air fresheners some of my friends at University used years ago.  It was strange, although the weather was warm, there appeared to be traces of snow on the floor.  Lenny must have been cooking, he darted into the kitchen to check his joint.  When he reappeared, I noticed he was wearing a tee-shirt with a leaf emblem on it.  'What's that , Lenny?' I asked.  he looked down at it and replied 'That's a teee-shirt , man'.  I aked him to turn the radio on.  he walked over to it, stroked it and said, 'Hey radio, you're reeally beautiful, you know'.  We settled down to play, I was black, Lenny was white, or at least his pieces were.  I had been studying the intricacies of the Yugoslav Attack in the Sicilian and hoped Lenny would be 'chasing the Dragon' so to speak.  But after 1.e4 c5 2. Ke2  I knew it was all over.  Bongcloud 1 - 0 Mxd.  Tongue out

It's not that simple. for example, if black played 1...g5?!, white HAS to reply with 2.f4!, or else he would obviously lose. A more subtle example is if black replied with 1...a5?!. If white continued with 2.Ke2?, then black will do 2...a4!, with the unstoppable threat of 3...Ba3, now that it's illegal to reply with 4.a4, and 4.b4 is answered with 4...axb3 e.p. In fact, the correct response to 1...a5!? is 2.b4! There are also other exceptions which I won't bother mentioning right now.

This thread has single handedly made it so i will never leave chess.com.  The brilliancy that is the boungcloud which this site has fostered makes me optimistic we will soon be seeing more genius openings in the near future.  Long live the boungcloud and its many variations!

WRONG. that is the equivalent of saying that nothing will ever beat the gasoline engine, or that forks will remain the predominant mechanism for eating in the western world. holding on to such purisms is, at best, dangerous. there is NOTHING simple about this opening.

Welcome home Don Erik! ;)
