As a caro-kann player i am certainly going to say nothing can beat the caro-kann except poking the other player in the eyes, they do have to stay sharp though so anything to dull them without cheating of course. But try taking control of the centre as soon as possible, but if you keep advancing pawns then off they go, plus develop your pieces sounds obvious but again it controls space and just lets loose the powerful bits and pieces on the board. Attack d6.
I guess learning the caro-kann may help you beat it so http://www.ericschiller.com/pdf/Caro-Kann%20Basics.pdf
I found this as wellhttp://www.docstoc.com/docs/8558595/_1993_---Beating-the-Caro-Kann-_Kotronias_-111-pag
Hope this helps but tbh i'm rooting for old ck
Hello all!
I am no stranger to Chess.com but this is my first post on the forums.
One of my chess rivals at a local club enjoys playing the Carro-Kann against me. I am relatively confident in my ability to outplay this gentleman if the line diverges from well-known bookwork, even though he is rated 100 or 200 points higher than me. However, I am having one heck of a time busting this opening and turning it into something that has effective play for White. I suppose the difficulty I am having is testament to the strength of the opening...in any case;
My question to all of you Chess.com entheusiasts is as follows...
Are there any good continuations for white that the Carro-Kann struggles to deflect? Failing this, what weaknesses does it have that I can attempt to exploit? Any advice is more than welcome. Thank you for your time and thanks for posting!
