what is the best way for black to play for a win? is it the tartakower, or the bf5 line? which one?
I think Bf5 is a better move than Nf6. The Tartakower pawn structure only works if Nxf6, exf6. if white doesn't take the knight on f6 and instead moves it back to g3 black can't play bf5. White drops the other knight on f3 and he is in a Fohr variation of the classical mainline but black can't play Bf5.
Nf6 as it creates more imbalance. You do need to know your stuff to avoid getting into a worse position out of the opening. Bf5 is the saver option.
