Caro-Kann Players! Post here any study resources/tips you recommend!

Good morning everyone,

I'm looking to learn more about the Caro-Kann, particularly lesser-known sidelines and the middle-game plans for this competitive opening. Granted that I haven't looked, I was thinking it would be beneficial to have a recent forum post where everyone posts the resources they would recommend for learning more about this opening.

I myself have kicked off this learning journey through Daniel Naroditsky and Levy Rozman's youtube repertoires on the subject (the former's speedrun series and the latter's explanation videos).

If you have any free (or paid) resources, be they books, websites, videos, etc. you believe helped you best, feel free to post them as comments on this thread, and thank you!

DON'T think you're going to get away with Nc6/Bg4 against the mieses! find ANOTHER plan!

gotham chess is a big advocate for the carokann. he should have some good videos to help you build your repertoire and/or understand the plans and concepts... but seriously, don't "no brainer" against the mieses. I eat 2 caros for every loss

Fantasy isn’t that scary if you know about e5 and this trap.

Hi! I can contribute with a complete repertoire that suits a Caro Kann player. See my post: https://www.chess.com/blog/maafernan/a-solid-opening-repertoire-for-speed-chess

Good luck!

One of the best sources for the Caro-Kann is Lakdawala's book, Caro-Kann: Move by Move

I did very poorly in the fantasy variation, and only stumbled on the mieses by accident when I confused the maroczy fantasy with the alapin diemer french with 3.Be3 and just started kicking butt with it mostly following the Bxf7+ plan
