You may be very well right, moonnie. As I said, I'm no expert at openings, and especially Queen's Pawn openings (as I almost exclusively play 1. e4 myself, at least for now, altough I want to learn to play QG soon). Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into that.

Like Sicilian, once you play it, you will not look for other openings. Blunders? Everyone makes them either white or black. It's too exciting to miss.

My refutation to the QGD...

moonnie

Hardly a refutation of the queensgambit declined.

  • The position on the board is about equal
  • There is even an easy way to equality in this variation by playing g6/Ng7 (takes a few moves) and Bf5
  • There is an easy way to avoid this setup by playing 3. .. Be7

What is grünfield? The name sounds german.

Is 9...h6 the regular move? I usually would play as black, Re8 and Nf8, and aim to try for Ne4

Back to the Grunfeld question, while I understand the Neo-Grunfeld is easy equality for black, doesn't this allow White to avoid all the messiness?

yes it is but it really doesn't make too much of a difference

Any book which actually explain move by move approach of Black behind playing certain continuation would be much helpful.....

I m not looking 4 book which gives long computer analysis with lesser explanation.

your reply is highly appreciated!!!

Thanks in advance. ...:)

There are a few black variations where ...g6 is the better move, often because it helps to black to trade off white's light squared bishop, or it better reduces the influence of white's light squared bishop.

Boris Avrukh is most complete. You will understand immediately that you should play something else at our level.

Thank you everyone for support.....:-) If I get book of specific opening do I need to remember all the variation n possible sidelines or mainline should be d main focus of opening preparation? Because every opening has lot of sub variations n there are lot of possible responses..Kind of annoying thing. ...hats off to all title holder how do these people memorize everything. ..

The only real recommendation that i have on grunfeld is a book by the famous Bent Larsen. It is called ZOOM, zero hour for operatve opening models. The book is 400 pages with over 500 grunfeld pawn structure games. Larsen is of the opinion that you need to learn patterns and he organises the book around all different patterns that he finds relevant with a grunfeld pawn structure. Both for black as for white, when playing a reversed grunfeld.

Hmm....dats perfect. ..I played few games in blitz in French defense but opponent replied with some unusual move order I lost dat game properly because I was not sure what he's doing....my point is people who are not aware of certain openings replied in unusual way which was not covered in video I saw on French.....
