This is one of Gothamchess and Hikaru's dumb lists.

Legendary: Alapin Sicilian, Bongcloud, Grob

Unbreakable (below): Marshall Attack, Najdorf, Grünfeld

Ok.

Najdorf would've gone in Legendary if it was just Hikaru, but then Gothamchess got upset and started whining about it.

This isn't the list as they created it. They had the Najdorf as Legendary, the London as Legit, and Grob as Garbage.

This is the OP's own version of the list, I believe.

(Anyone can make their own tier list here: https://tiermaker.com/create/ranking-chess-openings-516070)

Also, I don't think Levy dislikes the Najdorf. I'm quite sure he knows its worth. He just thinks his followers are too weak to play it, so he tells them not to even bother trying.

Oh ok, I'm just misremebering then. 🙈 I thought he put Najdorf in trash tier at one point.

He does dislike the Najdorf because he doesn't bother trying himself. He would never play into it from either side and would rather play a garbage sideline like a3. Of course he knows its worth. He has to acknowledge it. That doesn't mean he likes it.

He even told a 1700 player, who was asking for advice how to get better, to stop playing the Sicilian and Open Sicilian just after seeing the first few moves of their repertoire. Instead of looking any deeper than 10 moves to see if they could've done better tactically or in the endgame, he tells them to stop playing it even though their opening play was fine.

Then he didn't give any other advice. He just says "Stop playing Sicilian. Play Caro Kann. Play Alapin.", after the first few moves which were actually fine.

I don't see Nimzo-Indian on the list. Why?

That's just e4 openings.

Can't ignore non-e4.

As far as e4 openings, those 4 mentioned go up top.

Pirc, Modern - Tricks Only

The rest of 1.e4 - Garbage

A lot of garbage is playable in blitz, as there isn't enough time to calculate precisely or blunder check in every case.

Stonewall isn't very good.

at high level*

in longer time controls i could still pretty soundly beat a player my rating with the stonewall, the advantage they get from the opening is probably not enough for them to convert to a win
