Torre attack? Very good, according to SIlman

The Torre Opening is an easy opening to learn for the average club player. It's not like the Ruy Lopez, where there are tons and tons of variations leading to totally different positions. The Torre Attack allows White to choose the exact same setup against almost any defense: bishop on g5, pawns on e3, d4, c3, and bishop on d3.

If you find yourself playing the Colle system quite frequently, the Torre attack is a good way to deal with the "problem" of the black squared bishop, who tends to wait in reserve until lines open up. I use it every once in a while, mainly for that reason.

Against

1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 e6 you can play Torre after either 3.Bg5 or 3.c3

Against 1.d4 d5 Torre is bad. After 1.d4 d5 you play London system or if you are more ambitious you play 1.d4 d5 2.c4 (Like Mark Hebden does).

i play the torre when white to what ever black has to offer.

the move by move book of the torre really helped.

even the higher rated player fall on my torre.

Isn't the Torre just a toothless Tromp?

'good opening for club players' is a euphemism for 'bad opening'

i saw here in chess.com that there are actually 2 traps in torre set up.

1.for white Qa4 Ne5 Bg5 Bd3 c3 d4 e3

black  Qd8 Be7 Nc6 Nf6 0-0

if black takes the1. ...  Nxe5 2.dxe5 Nd7 3.Qh4 threatening mate on h7 and taking bishop on e7.

if any one can post the link of this two article here will be appriciated :)
