fireflashghost maybe if you e4 player we can play couple unrated blitz games in that defense? would be interesting
As for the red line with 6. Qxd2 Qxd2, 7. Bxd2 Bxg7 i castle short and try attack if he goes long. seems like interesting game
well I dont do blitz. I want chess to be the battle of the minds, not the battle of fastest internet connection :P
Challange me for a 24 hour match and I am all in :)
ye I know i was thinking more about me being white especially in e4 e5 setups as black i just let em play and try to counterattack...
what do you play in that scandinavian line?
I'm no Alekhine expert (and I'm fully aware the question was by no means directed at me...), but I played 2 Nc3 with White for a little while, an I always found 2...d5 to be slightly suspicious. Perfectly playable, but Black has to be quite accurate while White plays natural moves. FWIW I had a pretty good score with White in that line (not that that means anything!)
2...e5! is probably the most reliable, but this does require knowledge of the Vienna, Bishop's and Four Knights (although IIRC, Timothy Taylor did recommend this approach in his Alekhine book)
yeah I agree but good thing about alekhine defense is that there is no tons of gambits like e4 e5 to memorize to not be killed early. there is that unsound bishop sac after bc4 attacking knight and taking f7 to watch out for and thats it i think. and with white you can surelly sac and open position cuz of first move adv but its not possible with black cuz there is known lines to refute early aggresion
thats why counterattacking strategy is best w black i think if you still want interesting game. provocative defense like alekhine fits for that
qf3 seems very interesting tho did not have many games with it. maybe take pawn and hope for best :DD thats tricky ill have to look that up.
