the exchange variation might be slightly better for black than the normal scandinavian, but you'd also have to learn branches of the nimzo defense without d4. Nimzo-declined, sometimes you'll just get an e4 e5 opening and all of the sudden you're in a ruy lopez.
Cool Nimzo-Scandinavian
2...d5 is supposed to be bad after
Only "supposed", but it's not bad at all :
Why do u think it is ok for black?
Well, no real white threats. White has some initiative and can try to push a bit with Qa4+ and Bb5. But black's position is quite solid. 😎
Though I can agree that it's kinda passive for black. Not good if black wanna struggle for a win.
Just my little profane analysis.
I am not sure black is equal in this endgame, and no need for so many years of theory and book when your analysis is so deep and trustworthy.
Moreover, i personnally prefer Bf4 on Dd4, which sets other issues.
I don't play 2.d4 anymore because of 2...d5 3.Nc3 e5 : theorically bad but easy to blunder in the mess where black can sac queen... (i let u find what I am talking about).
Practical chess calls for 1.e4 Nc6 2.Nf3 or even 2.Nc3 (if nothing wrong with playing Vienna or 4 knights game).
this is the line that the engine says should happen. IMO white is better here because the knight is more active and white also has more space but it's probably equal with best play

exactly
as a scandi player some of these lines look like something i would never play at all
