first thing i would do is play some games starting 1.d4 and use the database for your online games to get an idea of the move order, also i like to play some blitz games in new openings so i get an idea of most popular lines/moves, and to see what positions develop and to make some mistakes and learn quickly. The a good book or dvd depending how you learn best. Dvds are good as an intro but books will give you a much more in depth look at the openings. Everyman chess do a series call starting out they are good if are learning a new opening.
