I used to play the modern benoni a lot and of the benoni family I think its the best one. I found however that against IMs and GMs my benoni was regularly getting smashed so I had to switch to something more solid and more dull but with better results.
I don't know why, but I'm a French man myself.

Its the opening for a tournament i'm in, so i have to get to like it, as well as know how to work it to my advantage. [i have a lot of tough competition]
well....reb...what IS your fav defence or opening?
There are many I like, dont have a single favorite as I play various openings. I like the Spanish, several sicilians (as black) , slav, kid, I play both 1e4 and 1d4 as white. If I had to pick one favorite I would say spanish (Ruy Lopez) as I like to play both sides of it and have been playing it for years.
Spanish and French.
Giuoco Piano as white, Sicilian Dragon as black
