But any house can stand against something as weak as the parham
Defences to the Parham Attack

I watched a game next to me at a recent tournament. They were both about equally rated, and the guy who was white used the Parham Attack on the French Defense. I agree with The_Gavinator that this is one of the best openings in chess. Against french defense white gains a great position. At the end of the game I was watching I saw that white had an obvious win against black. Im starting to really like this opening
The French isn't a great opening in the first place--- maybe white was higher rateD?

Then why is it blacks third most common response to 1.e4?

The french is great if you like to draw, which most people do since they play Ruy.
The more you talk the more you convince me that you should quit chess.

hey Gavinator if you look at any of the games from the current Tal Memorial, you will realize your statement that the Ruy is a draw is complete BS.

Its funny you should say that considering, my Chessmaster engine says white's best game with the Parham is only a draw...dumb to only play to draw, especially with white....it makes me wonder if you are on drugs or something...

And jetfighter that's real smart, say the Ruy Lopez isn't drawish by giving games from the strongest attacking player of all times, that's real freaking smart there...

actually Gavinator it is because they are ATTACKING PLAYERS. if they play the Ruy then it must mean it is a good ATTACKING Opening. albiet a lot of theory, but if you can get over that it is perfectly playable.

My houdini, the strongest engine in the world, gives white a win with the Parham...
BS even my dog gives a negative evalulation after 2.Qh5.

My houdini, the strongest engine in the world, gives white a win with the Parham...
So what if it does, you are no where near capable of playing on Houdini's level. So what does it matter. You can't see 30 moves ahead. Let me guess, you can put a square peg in a round whole if it is small enough...

That's not my point, no human plays at houdini's level, my point is that others were saying that the Parham always gives a draw with engine play, and they are trolls.
And CS, you keep talking about these lines, but I never see them. Funny how that works, isn't it? Please show me these good lines that I am certainly "ignoring".

My houdini, the strongest engine in the world, gives white a win with the Parham...
Houdini does not give a win for white with the parham, unless you happen to have it unplugged, or are running it on some computer that was made in 1900.
agree with PLAVIN. I am done. though I like how alexlaw brought the classic a house divided cannot stand analogy
