It's my stage-name.

Ben_Dubuque

if he is in school that means he is not Parham. and plus I think we can all call parham untrustable because he looks like Gadaffi.

Rubidium

No more feeding trolls! Untrack!

Rubidium

Oh, and Parham is like 60+ years old.

The_Gavinator

That's some good-old fashioned racism jetfighter.

Dark_Falcon

Parham, Parham, Parham...

How many threads should be started for an opening that nearly no one plays seriously...???

As many as he gets 200+ replies to.

Gavinator - You have me and an IM and an engine telling you that black is better.  What the hell difference does it make what whatupyoudog, Bruce, and jetfighter think?  Look at that position and then read the explanation.  If you don;t understand why black is better then ask about that.  The notion that white is better is just silly la-la land.

You left me out Joey Cry

Why don't we focus on the position in OP? whatupyodog and I are in agreement that white seems better.

I really dont care what you or an engine say about a position joey, because I am better than you and engines are far from ideal at analyzing positions, and judging by IM pfren calling this the Fartham attack i dont think we can listen to him either as he is not taking it very seriously. I admit that the line you gave is the best so far but white is still obviously a little better there. Even ChristianSoldier007 could probably see that.

Gee, I wonder why IM pfren isn't taking this seriously. I couldn't possibly think of a reason...

Well, we are both better than you.

RIGHT. Your better than Joey and IM pfren. Well I lol at these trolls, as even I am probably better than the gavinator, and would have good chances to beat whatupyodog if he played the parham, and they have like 1000 points on me.

The_Gavinator

Joeydvivre, in your refutation, which is posted on the OP, please tell me how white is worse.

The way I see it:

White has 4 developed pieces, a castled king, and a threatening pin.

Black has an f6 Knight that's pinned, a Knight away from the center (Knight's on the rim are dim, something I was told when I was beginning), and a Bishop that is blocked in by its own pieces, and practically useless.

That is how I am analyzing it from my own mind, I may be completely off, and if so, please correct me. Joey says he wants me to learn, so I am.

This is my analysis of the earlier line I gave before, following the suggested 4.d3 variation. Many people think that it is unnecessary to gambit a pawn, especially since 2..Nc6 is adequate. However, I think that the gambit is interesting and it takes advantage of white's queen early walk.

In most of the lines I found, Black is better. 5.Qf4 is the only way white can walk out of the many tricky lines. Even then, 5.Qf4 gives black an equalizing chance.

In conclusion, I don't see why white would want to complicate and put himself in a situation full of traps for himself, while black can comfortably move around his pieces. Parham attack is never a threat to black.

Yeah, I hung a piece thats only reason you won.

Ok, there are two problems with this statement:

1) Actually you hung 2 pieces and an exchange

2) Can you actually refute the advantageous and probably winning line that goes into an ending. At worse that's a draw for black, I'm sure higher rated players will agree with me. The backwards d pawn is easily defended and my pieces are extremely active, while you have too many weaknesses. How can you avoid that other than a move like Qc1?

If you say Qc1 or Qd2 are good moves I will laugh at you. The parham attack is an "unstoppable attack" by moving the pieces backwards apparently. I will bring the queen out, move it 5 times, then bring it back to the starting location because that is how I attack lol Laughing.

EDIT: I have already laughed at you several times.

The_Gavinator

I was talking about your line in the OP, I put your moves with optimal play for white.

Rubidium

Now that Shepi won, we can finally move on to other things.
