Defending against the Sicilian Defence Yugoslav Attack

Looking for ideas to successfully neutralize white's attack and equalize the game. Help would be really appreciated

Play the Najdorf, or even better, play the French!

Dragon is junk anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion! It's just that the najdorf has a lot more theory, and I keep asking myself if it is worth it.

This advice is useful in a way. D5 is devastating for the yugoslav attack. Look it up, but I think its the best move

Some preparation is needed because sometimes a move that seems best with logic is actually bad in practice. The best thing to do is to learn some lines for every opening (or as many as you can) and learn the reasons behind them. This will help you see the best moves in similar positions without much theory

Praying might help, maybe. Dragon was once the mainline. But Yugoslav attack has killed this opening at master level, save a few specialists. As I understand, the pawn structure mean that White wins the attack race, near certain. Not to say one cannot win of course, but the Yugoslav is very effective. Have a go at the kan or taiminov instead, which are simpler and more accessible.

Narjdorf is better. Logozar has a good course on it. There is a lot of theory but the same ideas pop up often.

Leaving aside that against the English attack he advocates a line which loses by force...

To the O.P.: Look at the first volume of Jones' book on the Dragon. Black equalizes, but there is a crapload of lines to memorize.
