difference between accelerated & hyper accelerated dragon

Hi, I am fond of playing the modern sicilian dragon (black... 2. d6) & wanted to improve my understanding of the other variations of the dragon. So, I wanted to better understand the differences between Accelerated & hyper accelerated dragon.

I believe accelerated is black 2.. Nc6?

and hyper is black 2.. g6?

Also, would like to see games where black used hyper accelerated vs maroczy bind and won/crush the maroczy. and vice versa.

Thank you.

It often tranposes.

But White can play different "anti" sicilians depending on 2...g6 and 2...Nc6.

With 2...g6, u avoid Rossolimo Bb5, but White has 3.d4 and Qxd4.

On 2...g6, white also has 3.c3 and even 3.d4 followed by c3, other variations to deviate from main lines.

Not troublesome but matter of taste, your choice on accelerated and hyper will depend on your preference on playing against these "anti" sicilian.

In addition to what poucin has said, the Hyper-Accelerated Dragon has the added option of 3.d4 Bg7.  "Not" taking on d4 immediately isn't necessarily a mistake.  Just a slight deviation.  It does, however, give White additional sidelines to choose from, including taking on c5 on move 4!

As poucin has said, they can just as easily transpose as well, and it depends on what you want to deal with in terms of anti- lines by White.

This is true for a number of Sicilians.  My primary weapon, the Taimanov Sicilian, has a similar dilemma for Black.  Black can play 2...Nc6 and 4...e6, or 2...e6 and 4...Nc6.  The former you have to deal with the Rossolimo.  The latter allows other lines that are vastly inferior against "non-e6" lines, like 3.b3, 3.g3, or the King's Indian Attack (3.d3).  The last of those 3 is actually what I do as White against 2...e6.

As for myself, I choose to play it via 2...e6 and deal with the b3, g3, and KIA lines rather than have to deal with the Rossolimo.  Again, just a matter of choice.  Nothing wrong with playing it the other way around.

Some others have multiple options available to Black.

Scheveningen Players can play 2...e6 or 2...d6.  Scheveningen Players can also, if they play 2...d6, can play 5...a6 and avoid the Keres Attack, and transpose against most Najdorfs, but he does then have to deal with 6.Bg5.

Classical Players can play 2...Nc6 or 2...d6.  Again, depends on which Anti-Lines you want to deal with.

Then there are some where there just really is no choice for Black.  Sveshnikov and Kalashnikov players must play 2...Nc6.  Najdorf and Dragon players must play 2...d6.  That's just to name a few.

Congratulations -- over 3/4 of your response has nothing to do with the OP's question

Can someone comment on these setups as well as create a setup for hyper accelerated dragon. Thank you.

poucin

too many things to explain, there are good books for that...

sultandiego

Can you at least attempt to explain any at all??

Thank you very much everyone (specifically Nebber_Agin). I like the larsen-fischer (1971) game that displays the accelerated dragon vs maroczy bind duel (although fischer may have transpose back to regular dragon with 6.. d6)
