dismantle the trappy caro kann lines

If you play 1... c6 after 1 e4 as black you have to know how to deal with the myriad trappy lines white might try. These openings are just kind of tiresome at this point as I often find myself defending for several minutes to maintain my material advantage and finally gain some initiative. But essentially all you have to do is trade down when possible and keep the f7 pawn protected and the h5 light squared diagonal covered to prevent white's queen coming in. There's always numerous sac's from white but once you know them all you just come out up material and win the game when you inevitably gain the initiative. Alien gambit, 2 knights, and von henning gambit are the most common in my experience... so many traps to know but key to not getting stomped playing the caro as black. It used to be exhausting playing black in these variations but once i learned what to do through analysis I don't have to calculate the responses to these traps anymore. Still, being under pressure for half the game can lead to slip-ups!
