I find the Danish gambit very effective, and I do use it a lot. It goes against 1. e4 e5, and goes on like this:
Yes, it does make you down in material, but it is very good.
Let's see what each move does:
This gambit is, as you saw, incredible. For the price of 2 pawns you have your bishops on crazy diagonals, and can develope your knights and the queen, then castle; black is far from that.
To be honest, in my games, I never saw my opponent play this. And that also meant that when I played this gambit my opponents were not prepared.
