Until recently I actually favored black. White and black have different systems and I happened to prefer the black ones. But -especially- on top level people are usually glad drawing with the black pieces.
As for more offensive openings, I'd suggest Sicilian even though it requires a decent understanding of the ideas behind the kind of positions that can occur. There's various Sicilian variations, the most popular being the Najdorf.
I'm new to chess and already find myself hating black. It feels like I'm always on the defensive against people and have to be stuck in respond mode (same with playing against the computer too).
Any tips for which openings to use that can be more offensive (while not allowing myself to get beat up either)? Would very much appreciate it!
