Does anyone know the best opening for a beginner?

Scotch opening. The best thing for beginners to play is those openings which open the board very quickly.

Some will always recommend play e4 play main line openings but these come with many variations. Learn the basics then when you’ve improved and comfortable you can always look at introducing other openings bit by bit

That's actually already a bad question. There is no good (nor bad) opening for a beginner such as yourself (and everyone of your and similar rating). Despite of the hype over the openings, their funny names, tricks and so on offered online, there is no point in learning any opening at this stage. Better check the opening principles, and try to apply them from move one. If you'd start from that, it would be already a great step forward.
