I like D4 because I play the London, which is solid.
London is trash if Black has not played ...d5. Only against 1...d5 is the London a good idea.

I suppose the london could be good for other things too. I mean, the jobava style london works against the king's indian. And I suppose if black plays like a queen's gambit declined, it is also good. But hey, I don't know. Take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'm only 600. 😅😂

Jobava Attack needs the same thing to be effective - ...d5 by Black. The Jobava is ineffective against the Kings Indian, NOT TO BE CONFUSED with 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.Bf4 g6. This is not a King's Indian because Black played ...d5, not ...d6. 3...g6 is the riskiest and probably least sound of Black's 6 main options on move 3.
I will only use the London when ...d5 is played. Otherwise:
1...Nf6 - Trompowsky
1...f5 - Staunton Gambit
1...e6 - French (2.e4)
1...g6 - Modern (2.e4)
1...d6 - Old Indian or Kings Indian (2 e4 Nf6 3.f3 and now 3...e5 or 3...g6 lead to the Old Indian or Kings Indian respectively as White will get in c4 before developing the c3-Knight.)
1...d5 - Neo-London, 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.c3 and if 3...e6, then 4.Bf4 and you are back in a London Proper when it is best played - Black has committed to ...d5, weakening the h2-b8 diagonal, and his LSB is blocked behind the pawn chain. If 3...Bf5?!, then 4.Qb3!, and if 3...c5?!, then 4.dxc5! e6 5.Be3.

the jobava formation is a perfectly legitimate reply vs KID. whether black plays d5 or d6 on move 4-5. Playing for 4.d6 simply allows white to get e4 and get a very pleasant pirc. 4.d5 which is objectively the better try, is on paper equal but in master games white is scoring 42-30-28, a very impressive win ratio for a supposed 0.00
