Sigh...

There's no need to avoid the KID.  It's not like the opening will show up at work one day and beat you up (then take your lunch money).

For the 11th time now...

Black can play KID-type moves whether you like or not.

Against some g3-type systems within the English, the game can easily transpose into a KID (fianchetto systems).  I am assuming you play g3 and Bg2, and with the English, this is usually the case.

The question is not how to avoid the KID - you cannot do this all of the time.

You just need to have some lines, plans, ideas, ready if/when Black employs a KID type move order.

Also note that you may have the choice to take the KID (head on) with main line theory OR use another setup of your choosing.  If 1 c4 is your opening system as White, it makes sense, to me, use something like the 'standard setup' or the Botvinnik system.

And secondly what is so horrible about playing against the KID coming from the English?

Sigh indeed...

Why do you seem to be deliberately ignoring what everyone else is telling you, adam?  Afraid I'm not following this at all...

I wrote this post before the recent clarification that I was simply leaving the "English".

Aha!  Well, in that case...

Erik, I'm not ignoring your posts at all. I just flat out don't understand them all the time. Andy was able to fix my confusion in one sentence. I just simply didn't understand that I was leaving the English system with d4. Simple as that.
