what if white is lower rated? now im forced to play for a win or i lose rating. How do i play for a win when the 0-0-0 lines are dubious and the c5 lines just give white an advantage?

The c5 lines are so dubious, that Anish Giri advocates them at his Chessable French course.

you arent supposed to play c5 until Bd3 is played. It goes not nf3 c5, but nf3 nf6 bd3 c5

True. @AngryPuffer just used a very poor example to support a very poor opinion.

you cant expect people to know these things. You really should have specified it better.

In that case, you should have said before "How do i play for a win when the 0-0-0 lines are dubious and the c5 lines just give white an advantage- unless I don't know what I'm talking about?".

that's actually the most basic knowledge about c5 lines that you can imagine. The bishop check is just an incredible move(in fact it is the only one move that gives white that "advantage"), so to make the line sound we need to deal with it. If c4 is played from the white side they deal with it pretty easily: they are a tempo up, they shouldn't worry. If c5 is played from the black side, the bishop check is actually a threat, so we shouldn't play c5 until the bishop has moved already(making the check lose a tempo which will put black in an advantageous position)

you still shouldnt expect people to know the ¨correct¨ version of your pet line.

you still shouldnt expect people to know what you are talking about fully unless you specify it.

the diagram shows that, but nothing said that c5 should be played after Bd3

Ethan_Brollier

Personally, my preferred way to face the Exchange French is with the Bd6 Ne7 lines. The Bd3 c5! lines are pretty interesting, and of course the Ultra-Symmetrical is always an option, although I'm not a fan of the 7. Qe2+ lines, as Black either loses a tempo with Bf8-d6-e7 or drops the bishop pair to 7... Be6 8. Ng5 Qe7 9. Nxe6 fxe6 (which usually follows 10. Nd2 Nc6 11. Nf3 e5 12. dxe5 Nxe5 13. Nxe5 Bxe5 14. f4 Bd4 15. Qxe7+ Kxe7 16. Ke2 Kf7 17. Kf3 or similar)

You are simply incorrect.
The line he posted: 5. Nf3 Nf6 6. Bd3 c5.
The line you posted: 5. Nf3 c5 6. Bb5+ Nc6.
Even if you didn't understand that c5 was to be delayed until Bd3 from two instances of it being shown, I know you're smart enough know not to post completely different lines and then claim a completely different thing is refuted.
