Why not 8. Nbd2? or 9. gxf3?
Exchange sac in King's gambit
That rook sac cannot be sound, black has a solid position and a safe king, you have no positives in the position.
Why not 8. Nbd2? or 9. gxf3?
Well, I guess that's what I should be doing, but I think I would probably play c3 a bit earlier to own the center and keep the knight off that square in the first place.
A few months ago I started playing the rook move, and just assumed that I had sufficient compensation because I am better developed. However, as the previous poster said, it seems easy enough for black to defend.
Anyway, thanks for the responses. I feel like I've gotten adequate compensation for looking silly in this post, because I got a response from the famed 'batgirl'! A sound sacrifice indeed :)

I seem to arrive at this position a lot and wonder if it is sound for white. Thanks!
