I'm not sure if I like an early f6 in the Advanced I believe that first preparing and move c6-c5 then worrying about breaking out with f6
f6 in the Caro-Kann advance

f6 is good in some situations in the advance variation - not this one. It's used as a way to free development when it's restricted, and when the knight has e7-f5 your development is easy. Incidentally, in the Bd3 variation here (NOT a good variation for white), after Qxd3, Qa5+! and Qa6! has equalised for black because white either accepts the queen trade or accepts a difficult to castle position.
