As white I strongly prefer the queen gambit accepted, but have no trouble with a queen gambit declined either.
As black, I love the caro-kann. Just because I have more success with this one.

as white, fried liver
as black against e4, caro-kann
as black against d4, albin-countergambit or tarrasch (I play both)
As Black against anything else, bwahahahahahahaha
Bring it on!
Much like my overly-wordy post on favorite chess players, I have more favorites than I can count! (This is likely attributable to me being unable to count past ten on a good day, right?) I'll just randomly pick a few off the list.
As White: Ruy Lopez: Exchange Variation, Sicilian Dragon: Yugoslav Attack, Caro-Kann Defense: Panov-Botvinnik Attack.
As Black: Sicilian Defense: Sveshnikov Variation, Queen's Gambit: Slav Defense, Caro-Kann Defense: Capablanca Variation.
Those are the ones I generally play in more serious games. At the club level, I really enjoy (again, too many, but a few will suffice) the KIA as White, the KID as Black, and either side of the Four Knights Game. Odd, no?
your favorite opening and why? what opening would you suggest for different levels of players? Theory behind the opening? I hope this will be a big thread and i'll update on the most popular openings and why.
