i have looked into the blackmar-diemar gambit; it exists for one reason only. this is not my opinion it is the opinion of chess experts; the blackmar-diemar gambit exists for one reason... the blackmar-diemar gambit is designed to stop chess players getting better, its sole purpose is that it is legal to play and it actively prevents good chess players from getting better. if you play into the blackmar-diemar gambit your chess career is over; lol...

I am guessing he was referring to the Nimzovich Countergambit, but you can't play the BDG against the King's Gambit. That doesn't make any sense.

Gambit play teaches one how to use the initiative. The BDG just isn't a particularly good gambit. It is not entirely sound and it is easily avoided with little cost to Black. I could see it being a useful learning tool up to around 1400 or so. After that, you should have more variety in your repertoire and learn that it is not very effective to play the same moves against everything.

i looked into the blackmar-diemer gambit, the professional chess books i own here say. it is not poor chess it is bad chess; it encourages people to play into certain lines and limits their experience. the BDG is credited for the loss of more promising players advancing than any otehr single opening. What this means is the BDG is not just "unfashionable"; is is just 'worthless'...

awwww, you're right, I just checked

oh, there it is, I'm sorry I meant the falbeer countergambit, I don't know where I came up with blackmar-diemer.
